12.13.19 - Creativity: Learning Outcome 7

As I am beginning to put my art exhibition together, I am noticing that I am having to deeply analyze why I am making my art the way that I am. I am definitely having to do a lot of self reflection around
my choices and actions to prove that each part of my artwork is intentional and deliberate. It is not something I am used to, but I feel like this will be very helpful in my future.

11.13.19 - Activity: Learning Outcome 7

I had a meeting with my college counselor, and I am beginning to have to make a lot of hard choices
with narrowing down which schools I am going to apply to for college. While it is not ethical or
unethical to pick one college over the other in my eyes, it is still a challenging decision to make and I
want to make sure that I make a decision that will best benefit me not only now and not only once
I’m in college but also passed college. There are many people that will say this decision does not
define the rest of your life, and I agree that it does not define necessarily the rest of my life, however
it definitely plays a large role in shaping who I will become for the rest of my life. So I do not take
this decision lightly and I am definitely finding myself making sure I keep an open mind and think
through every decision that I make.

10.15.19 - Service: Learning Outcome 1

Today was a special day because I got to teach my first dance class at the dance studio I am currently
at. I was teaching a basic ballet class to a group of much younger girls, and I really really enjoyed it. I
have always loved teaching dance because I love getting to see the joy that comes to children and
people in general when they exercise creative expression. However there is still a lot to learn and I
am not the best teacher, so it definitely took some trial and error with the kids to figure out what
worked best for teaching them and what didn’t. I felt like that identified really well with Learning
Outcome 1.

9.18.19 - Creativity: Learning Outcome 1

Today was an interesting day, so at dance I decided to watch some videos for inspiration and then try
and come up with a little bit of my own dance choreography. That is not something I’m used to,
especially for a style that is not ballroom dancing. However I love to take on a challenge, so I
definitely felt like I was able to identify my own strengths as well as realize my potential areas of
growth for the future if I ever decide to choreograph my own dances again.

8.20.19 - Service: Learning Outcome 5

Today I took part in a community service activity for the Greater Houston Community Foundation. It
is always fun working with these positive, inspiring, intelligent people. It makes working together so
much easier and so much more enjoyable. Today was a lot of fun and I think we made a lot of great
progress as a group of young leaders.

7.22.19 - Service: Learning Outcome 2

Today I babysat for my neighbors for a couple of hours. I feel like every time I go and babysit them, I
learned something new whether it be about myself, about them, about responsibility, or even about
parenting. Babysitting teaches a lot of great life lessons and I love being given that responsibility. I
have been babysitting these kids for a couple years now, and every time I see them they have
something new to teach me. While sometimes babysitting can be a challenge, the skills that I learned
through babysitting I find to be very important and applicable to other aspects of my life and
hopefully my future.

6.24.19 - Service: Learning Outcome 7

Today we had our first meeting for the summer program of the Greater Houston Community
Foundation. It was really great to see some of the people that I have not seen in a while. We talked
about all of the different organizations we want to help, which community service activities we would
like to take part in, and which issue we are going to donate are giving grant money to. Every time we
have this discussion, we all have to consider our personal beliefs and how they play a role in what
decision we make and what issues that we vote to tackle for the summer.

5.28.19 - Creativity: Learning Outcome 5

We are at the ranch right now. Me and my friends have been dancing all night and coming up with
dances all night. It has been so much fun and I have really enjoyed coming up with the dances with
my friends, because that is what makes them so much fun. Me being a dancer, I am not necessarily
learning new dance skills, however it is still a lot of fun to do and I love having the chance to use my
creativity whenever I can.

5.5.19 - Service: Learning Outcome 5

Last night we had our junior prom, and it went amazingly! It was so rewarding for me to see the hard
work that I had put into this activity come to life in a way that me and all of my peers could enjoy. It
helped remind me of the benefits of working with my peers on planning prom, and even though I
want to be president of the committee next year this has shown me that I will not be able to produce
an awesome prom without the help of my peers and my friends.

4.7.19 - Service: Learning Outcome 6

Costa Rica was a life-changing experience. I learned so much about the reality of the tourism industry in Costa Rica, as well as how so many of the people in Costa Rica make a living off of tourism, coffee, and other things I never knew about. Through the community service activities, I definitely learned more about the positives and negatives of tourism, and how it affects the locals in not only Costa Rica but all over the world.

3.15.19 - Creativity: Learning Outcome 2

Today I finished reading the first book for pleasure that I have read in the last 3 to 4 years. I forgot
how much I missed reading, so while I did not develop a new skill per say, I definitely identified with
Learning Outcome 2. Reading always inspires me and gets my creative juices flowing, but I noticed
that I definitely struggle with giving myself enough time to read for pleasure. I hope in the future,
especially over the summer I will be able to read more for enjoyment.

2.18.19 - Activity: Learning Outcome 1

Dance today was harder than usual. I seem to be struggling a lot with balancing school and dance and
sleep, and I can tell that it is taking a toll on my body and physical performance. While this is an
activity, and I do really enjoy it, I definitely noticed myself relating to Learning Outcome 1 of
identifying my strengths of perseverance and my areas of growth being time management.

1.21.19 - Creativity: Learning Outcome 2

Today marks the last week of my personal finance intensive course. I have learned so much from this
course, I definitely feel like I have accomplished Learning Outcome 2. This is definitely an intensive
that requires a lot of creativity, open mindedness, and drive to learn more complicated terms. I really
enjoyed it and I hope I get to learn more things like this in my future.
